Season one, Writing Fortunes, spans 300 years and looks at the lives of six women who used writing in some way to alter their fortunes. From a fresh perspective on Jane Austen, exploring both the role of money in her novels as well as her journey to becoming a paid novellist; to the story Charlotte Hayes a somewhat notorious sex worker, who was a savvy business women, making a way in a society of very limited options for women.
